Looking for Treasure: How Heuristic Play will Benefit your Child

Benefits of Heuristic Play continued…

Varied sounds:

Many toys these days come with sounds at the touch of a button. Playing with everyday objects in a creative way will mean your child discovers how various objects sound when played with, when tapped, banged, rattled, dropped…far more variety than comes at the push of a button.

Child-led:

The heuristic play experience is all about your child following their own interests and curiosity. You only need to provide the safe environment to do so – make a clear space, free of other distractions if you can. Your child will make their own choices, busy themselves with their discovery and exploration, with you around as support but not an active participant.

Less expense:

OK so this benefit is for you rather than your child, but toys can be expensive! While you might want to splash out on something you really love (or they really love), when they are small you might as well make the most of the heuristic play process by offering your child everyday household objects.
