Meditation in Motherhood: One Teacher’s Calling is Helping Kiwi Mums Find their Calm

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Setting up a business is always pretty challenging and I gradually learnt to balance my time between teaching and doing administration work. Contact with my students can be time consuming therefore it is important to spend time helping them but also telling myself that 11 pm messages can be responded to in the morning.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

With owning my own business, I find I can work too much especially in today’s demanding digital world. I need to be disciplined to switch off, take time to walk my dog, meditate and cook a delicious dahl.

I enjoy being able to dictate my own hours, make decisions, and pour intuition and leadership into my business. One great benefit is being able to act on creativity straight away without having to seek permission from others to run with an idea.

I appreciate learning different facets of the business and having a hand in each area, such as providing self-care tips to students, advertising a new course and creating videos to promote my next retreat.

The pros of owning my own business definitely outweigh the cons.

I would love to make meditation a more mainstream solution to help parents overcome difficulties such as challenges with conceiving, postnatal depression, helping new mums through sleepless nights…

Hopes and dreams: What next?

My aspiration is that every Kiwi knows about and has access to Vedic Meditation in order to positively impact their lives by expanding their happiness levels and increasing good health and wellbeing.

I also want to continue to support parents during different stages of the roller coaster that is parenting. I would love to make meditation a more mainstream solution to help parents overcome difficulties such as challenges with conceiving, postnatal depression, helping new mums through sleepless nights and increasing oxytocin levels to support breast milk production in the body, to help parents feel calmer during toddler’s tantrums and teenager years as well as relationship challenges.

When my students take the beginner’s course they pay a one-off fee but get access to me for life. I’m always at the end of the phone. It’s a calling for sure and through Vedic Meditation I am here to share my knowledge and simply help people create less stress and more bliss in their lives.
