Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Setting up a business and caring for a newborn was quite full on, especially as I was also dealing with some personal challenges at the time too.

I make the most of the small windows of time during the day when my daughter is sleeping or playing to work on my business. I’m so fortunate that I have a completely devoted family who jump at the chance to help out – especially my parents – they are head over heels in love with her!

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The biggest challenge has probably been managing my time wisely whilst caring for my daughter. Those early months with a newborn are especially demanding and tiring (in the best possible way) so sometimes working on my business wasn’t exactly what I felt like doing. I remember some days feeling like I was just a milking machine – I’d feed my daughter and then hand her over to my eager family for all the cuddles and fun, so I could work on my business.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Being able to work from home is the biggest draw card for me. I miss my daughter even if I pop out to the supermarket, so I’m very blessed I get to stay at home with her. I am also really enjoying the learning process.

Cons – there isn’t enough time in the day!

Hopes and dreams: What next?
At the moment I am the sole distributor and retailer in NZ, but I am hoping to get other retailers on board. I really believe in this product and its value in helping mothers love breastfeeding like I have – so my main goal is getting the word out. I want mothers to know that although it might seem like painful nipples are a rite-of-passage for every breastfeeding mum, they don’t have to be!

I am also hoping to expand my business by selling other high quality, natural products that support mother and baby through pregnancy, birth and beyond.
