Through her Holistic Counselling and Meditation Sessions, Eloise Forster is passionate about guiding people to a better health outcome using mindfulness and grounding techniques. In doing so, she helps with the shift from ‘doing’ to ‘being’, decreasing the inflammatory response that stress causes within, and providing people with the emotional freedom and happiness they deserve. At MoodMantras, she provides a sacred space that is free from judgement, where everyone can feel safe, loved, heard and valued. In addition, she has introduced sustainable products such as crystal ‘Smudge Sticks’ and beautiful dried floral ‘Intention Posies’ which she makes by hand – each posy is smudged with a blessing to bring into the home, office or sacred space. Here, Eloise talks about the inspiration behind MoodMantras, her business journey so far, and her hopes and dreams for the future.

The passion: What inspired you to set up your business? 

As an Emergency Nurse working through the pandemic, I saw first-hand the effect stress has on the physical body. As an avid mindfulness advocate, I thought it was high time I acted on my intuition. For so long my gut was telling me raise awareness to the greater community that stress and unresolved emotional trauma exacerbate physical symptoms in our body. It’s how our body communicates a disruption within. So rather than just treating symptoms, I felt drawn to incorporate a holistic approach to work alongside western medicine in our healthcare system. This gives patients the opportunity to unpack emotional issues that have been pushed aside and get the support they need metaphysically as well as medically within the hospital environment. So, during the first lockdown in 2020, I studied Holistic Counselling and Meditation Teaching and now run a private practice offering products and services that ground people and teach them to reconnect to themselves. I help people shift from just DOING to BEING and ultimately decrease the inflammatory response stress causes within. Some people are so locked in their belief systems and truly unaware that it’s never too late to change your mindset for the better. So, I guide people to a better health outcome using mindfulness and grounding techniques.   

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?  

One night I was super stressed from a shift, and I came home to find my youngest still awake. She had been waiting for me to finish, so I lulled her to sleep with some music and a sleep meditation that I made up on the spot. The next morning, she told me that my meditation was so good, and I should record one for her to listen to the next time I do a late shift. Thinking my daughter was being biased, it did give me the lightbulb moment to share them online and decrease the state of anxiety and stress circumnavigating our world.  

So, I started by offering free mediations on social media for all. From there my business grew and I decided to register a business name and begin offering holistic services via zoom (and face to face when we are not in lockdown), as our wider community desperately needed the support during COVID and beyond. Over time, I began to introduce sustainable products such as crystal ‘Smudge Sticks’ and dried floral ‘Intention Posies’ which is what I am still doing today around my emergency shifts. The Intention posies have been smudged with a blessing to bring into the home, office or sacred space. I have one for new parents, new beginnings, warrior and strength and many more. Each intention is different and carries the energy of the blessing. These bring me so much joy and I hand make every one of them. Some of my intention posies have crystals attached to them for a stronger energy whereas all of my smudge sticks have crystals attached to them. They are very powerful.   

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?  

The biggest breakthrough was getting to the finalist stage of the AUSMUMPRENEUR AWARDS for 2021. My business was recognised for the work I do with kids, teens, and adults mindfully. The awards also recognised my business for one of its core intentions, which is to bring mindfulness into our healthcare system for patients to access as part of their treatment plan. My business received a lot of media, which increased my revenue and most importantly the awareness that self-care and attending to your emotional self is imperative. Tending to self and shifting from just DOING to BEING gives people the emotional freedom and happiness they deserve. This increases connection to self and the power to live authentically.  

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family? 

Honestly, I feel a bit lopsided when it comes to balance. The way I integrate both is by prioritising and constantly checking in with my husband and kids. My family come first, their emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing is my priority, so if I must work late into the night, then so be it. My husband and I make a conscious effort to spend alone time together and he supports me with household chores. Our kids are teens now, so they have to pull their weight around the house too. I am not sure there is a balance, however it is possible to make your dreams into a reality – it just takes constant juggling and flexibility.
