In today’s fast-paced world, where stress and anxiety seem to be constant companions, the importance of self-care cannot be overstated. While adults are increasingly embracing practices like meditation and holistic wellness, it’s equally crucial to instil these habits in our children from a young age.
As the founder of Add Oils, my journey began with a simple yet compelling mission: to provide toxin-free solutions for families, rooted in the principles of natural parenting and holistic wellness. With a school-aged daughter of my own, I’ve come to understand firsthand the transformative power of self-care practices in nurturing a child’s mental and physical well-being. However, what truly galvanised my commitment was the startling statistic that in Australia, half of all adult mental health challenges emerge before the age of 141. This statistic underscores the critical need for early intervention and support, inspiring me to craft kids’ self-care products and provide parents with resources to support their children’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This personal journey has become the driving force behind Add Oils.
Understanding Self-Care for Kids
Self-care for kids involves developing habits and practices that promote physical, emotional, and mental health. It encompasses activities like exercise, healthy eating, adequate sleep, and practising mindfulness. Self-care also involves teaching kids to recognise and manage their emotions.
Aromatherapy offers a wonderful avenue for children to engage in self-care. Through the simple application of roller bottles or spraying a mist, even young children can actively participate in their well-being journey.
The soothing aroma of essential oils can have a remarkable impact on children, alleviating anxiety and stress, and uplifting their mood. Inhalation of these natural fragrances stimulates the brain’s emotional processing region, while absorption allows the oils to enter the bloodstream, enhancing their therapeutic effects.
