The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Finding a cost effective and environmentally friendly packaging option for our product has been extremely difficult. We currently package our purees in reusable glass jars. They look gorgeous but are expensive compared to other packaging options, which pushes up the cost of our product. We are always looking at different ways to package our products and keep a close eye on new packaging options and recycling methods.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Without a doubt, the most positive aspect of running our own business is the satisfaction that we get from helping tired parents feed their children beautiful, healthy food.
Unfortunately, with this comes a lot of paper work and compliance, which while extremely important, is not half as fun as making our products and developing new ones, which I’d much rather be doing!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We have big plans for Little Pot of Gold over the next 12 months. We are looking to launch a new frozen range of purees by the end of 2020 and some of our existing products will get a makeover in the forms of herbs and spices and ancients grains. I also have dreams to create a healthy snack on the go for mums and bubs alike.
Needless to say, myself and baby number two will be immersed in taste testing for the next few years!
