Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
There is definitely room for improvement. As a very new business of only 9 months, there is still much to do. Managing most of it myself has been a challenge from both a knowledge and time management point of view, particularly with a young family. But I’m learning lots every day and it’s getting easier. Luckily my little one is a good sleeper, which gives me some time to myself during the day. I am definitely more efficient when I know I only have an hour or two a day! I feel very passionate about the product and our customers, which gives me the energy to push through the tougher periods. My husband is very supportive, which helps greatly.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
One of the challenges of creating a high dose multivitamin is that many important nutrients (like choline and B vitamins) have a strong earthy scent that some people can sometimes find confronting. The higher the doses, the stronger the smell. We wanted to make the product pleasant to our customers, without compromising on the doses and importantly, without adding any artificial masking agents or fragrances to the capsules. We have solved this by using a food-grade silicone insert infused with peppermint essential oils, which is placed inside each bottle to give it a minty fresh fragrance. We are so excited to have these – they elevate our customers’ supplement regime without giving them or their bubbas’ anything artificial at all!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Our purpose is to help couples get pregnant and start families of their own. We hope to further assist with this by launching a few more products which complement our prenatal. Watch this space!
