With the beautiful colours of autumn in full swing, it’s the perfect time to get out and explore the gardens and for kids to create some Autumnal Art, collecting colourful leaves to create animals, a crown, a self-portrait or anything else they can think of. They can also make a leaf-collecting frame or use the Leaf Investigation Sheet to help them explore leaves in their own back yard.
All of these activities have been created to ensure the Auckland Botanic Gardens is a place that is welcoming and rewarding for families with young children.
The passionate, knowledgeable Botanic Gardens team is also on hand to help connect their visitors to the beauty and wonder of plants. With a specially thought-out children’s garden and an interactive children’s area in their visitor centre, a trip to the Botanic Gardens is a great way to learn about nature while burning off some energy. Pack a picnic or enjoy lunch at the café in the Huakaiwaka Visitor Centre, with views out over the gardens.
The Auckland Botanic Gardens is open every day of the year and entry is free.
