The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I really wanted to help ladies look and feel their best.
After 13 years in the industry, I knew I needed to give this a go for myself and my family. I had this vision and as a mother myself, I know the importance of taking time for yourself, being in a calm safe space and having someone take the time and care to address all aspects of why you are coming in today without any judgment, but with complete understanding and expert knowledge to help.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
My husband built me a beautiful beauty studio on the outside of our property.
It took months to perfect how we wanted it to look and once it was finished, I was eager to get in there and open the doors. We were open for two weeks and a national level 4 lockdown hit New Zealand in August 2021. I couldn’t reopen until we were at a level 2 stage, which I believe wasn’t until mid November. It was hard, but once I was able to set up virtual consultations for my clients and send out contactless delivery for their products, we grew and I haven’t looked back.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
I took on some beautiful brands that have excelled the treatments I am able to perform. Due to these specialised treatments, I was able to create amazing content via my social media platform and word of mouth got out. I will always be grateful to those clients that have followed me for years and shown their support.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
One of the benefits to working in your own space is that you can really customise your work around your family. My 2-year-old daughter goes to day-care 4 days a week so it allows me to be able to provide those hours to my clients. My husband will also help in the evenings so that I can dedicate a late night once a week to those that need after hours appointments (including the occasional Saturday morning). I’m very lucky to have the support of my family but equally lucky to have that balance at home.
