Know Your Worth: Helping Women Take Charge of Their Financial Future

Financial advice now needs to focus on:

  • Families with much more fluid caregiving roles,
  • A workforce that doesn’t fit the 9-5 office stereotype,
  • People who care as much about where their money is invested as the return it generates,
  • A generation that are rejecting the messages they absorbed growing up.

I regularly offer tips, tricks and personal insights through social media such as LinkedIn (feel free to look me up and connect!) or my Instagram @know.your.worth.nz.

While social media may seem like an unnecessary focus for a financial adviser, to me it is hugely important to be able to reach the next generation. In my twenties, I managed to get a degree, get married, buy a house, get pregnant AND get divorced – all without ever being offered any financial advice. In fact, I thought that financial advisers were only for rich people, and it would never have occurred to me to look one up!

Now, as a mum, I can relate to all the parents who are so mentally overwhelmed by keeping on top of everything in their children’s lives that they have very little time or energy to look at their own situation. Getting your finances in order can be overwhelming, and even if you are confident with money, it can be a lot to add to the existing mental load. Working with an adviser means you have someone else to do the heavy lifting on working out which insurance company to use, or which fund to invest in. Someone to keep track of everything, keep you accountable, answer those questions which keep you awake at three in the morning and to help you build a plan for the future so that you can live a life created intentionally rather than just muddling through.

Whether you are in the weeds of early parenthood, navigating the tensions of a house with teens, or bogged down by the 50 emails from your kid’s school this week alone (please tell me I’m not the only one!) it always helps to have an expert in your corner. Reach out to elizabeth@yourworth.co.nz or book in for a meeting through our website Know Your Worth and take the first step to elevate your financial future, because you really are worth it.
