Movement, Mindfulness & Knowledge to Support You Through Pregnancy & Postpartum

Wellness With Chloe Rose

Wellness with Chloe Rose was created to help support pregnant and postnatal women in the North East of England to move safely during pregnancy and after the birth of their babies. As a Yoga Teacher, Pre and Postnatal Specialist, Womens’ Health Expert and Birth Educator, it is Chloe’s mission to provide women with research-informed knowledge regarding birth education, movement and postnatal healing. It was her own experiences as a first-time mother that inspired her to help others – having felt alone and anxious, and identifying a lack of support for women in pregnancy and postnatal exercise. Here Chloe talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind what she does, the challenges she has overcome, how she balances work and family time, and her hopes and dreams for the future.

The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?

The inspiration behind Wellness with Chloe Rose really comes from my own experience as a first-time mother living in the North East. During my first trimester, I was incredibly sick, anxious due to early bleeding, and overwhelmed about where to turn for support. One of my biggest concerns was exercise. I had always been an avid gym-goer, and I was desperate to keep moving during pregnancy, but the exercises I used to do no longer felt right or safe. Eventually, I found pregnancy yoga-and the rest, as they say, is history!

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?

After gaining my yoga qualification at the end of 2021, I began offering pregnancy and postnatal yoga sessions in my local area. I also started teaching yoga to all bodies, and that’s when I really began to understand the impact yoga has-not just on your physical body but on your mental well-being too. At the time, I was still the main caregiver for my little boy, so I started small, working in my local community. It was such a rewarding experience, especially as we were all slowly adjusting to life after Covid.

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

Oddly enough, my biggest business breakthrough came during my second pregnancy. I was able to put into practice everything I had learned over the previous two and a half years. Although my first birth was unmedicated and, in many ways, a natural experience, my placenta didn’t deliver properly, which really affected my recovery and how I felt about the labour. Determined to learn more, I studied with experts like Rachel Reed and Dr. Sara Wickham, and I sought support from a local Hypnobirther (now a doula in the North East). Through this, I discovered an amazing community of women dedicated to empowering others to take ownership of their birth experiences. I knew I wanted to be part of that movement! So, I filmed my online pregnancy yoga course, incorporating the birth preparation knowledge I gained during my second pregnancy and further studies.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Balancing home and family with work has always been my biggest challenge. I love what I do, but I often struggle to prioritise myself over my children’s needs. I’m still their primary caregiver, but my mum has been an incredible help, especially after my second baby, allowing me to keep up with my weekly class commitments. My work is flexible, and I’m grateful for the time it allows me to spend with my babies. However, finding time just for myself-that’s still the hardest part, and I know many mothers can relate.
