Supportive & Effective Lactation Products for Breastfeeding Mums

The Lactation Station

Sisters Laura and Karen made the exciting decision to take over The Lactation Station in August 2024, after admiring and following the business for over 5 years, since the births of their first children. Having benefited from the breastfeeding supplements themselves, and experiencing firsthand how well they support breastfeeding mothers, they were thrilled to continue its legacy. Being able to work on the business around their children’s schedules has been a huge positive, while being able to provide practical support to families on their parenting journeys. Here they talk to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind their business, how they balance work and family time, and their hopes and dreams for the future.

The passion: What inspired you to purchase your business?

We saw the opportunity to purchase the business mid-2024, after following the progress of The Lactation Station since we started having kids in 2019. We both used the products long before we took over the business and have seen the benefits first hand of what the breastfeeding supplements can provide for new mothers. This made it very easy to decide that we wanted to continue the legacy of The Lactation Station and help and support breastfeeding mothers throughout the country.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

The business is structured in a way that we are both able to work from home, as our main jobs are stay-at-home mums! It’s great that we are able to work on the business around our children’s schedules. And since there are two of us doing it, it splits the workload which makes it effortless to ensure we have the right work/family balance.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

It has been an absolute whirlwind since taking over the business in August. We have made sure that we have an excellent support system in place to help navigate through any challenges. We have made it through baby shows and expos, and even Black Friday! Jumping straight into the deep end was the quickest way for us to learn!
