Home-Based Childcare With a Difference: Blossom Tree

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
My husband and I homeschool our children and we are very lucky to have a community of people around us to look after our children on those occasions when we both work.

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Finding educators who are truly passionate about our philosophy and want to work with young children has not been easy. We have learned that they certainly exist but it takes time to find these people. We now have a group of wonderful very experienced educators and we feel blessed to be able to work with them and support them professionally with the workshops we offer.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
What I enjoy most of running this service is the joyful relationships I have developed with people that work with Blossom Tree and continually learning more about my passion for children and people. Being able to assist others to learn more about what I am passionate about is so gratifying.

The cons are the continuous challenges we face behind the scenes. Often things aren’t as straightforward or easy as we initially think it will be. Behind the scenes there is a lot more involved than people generally realise. The administrative requirements are very time-consuming and sometimes overwhelming.

Hopes and dreams: What next?
My dream is for Blossom Tree to continue to grow, to inspire and support people to be with children while honouring core values of integrity, love, beauty and kindness. I strongly believe that the world will be a more joyful place if we can empower each other to consciously operate from the heart.
