Simple Nutrition and Natural Health Solutions for Mothers and Children at Any Stage

I am, and always will be a mother (and wife) first. So are the majority of my clients. Having this priority at the front of my forethought keeps me in touch with my ‘client’s reality too.

My non-negotiable for maintaining balance is ensuring Sunday’s are the ultimate day of rest and family time, with no work whatsoever, and no work once my husband arrives home.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

It has been merging professional life with mum life. Being in business for five years before conceiving had probably meant I had become entirely “stuck in my ways” with my approach to my business. But as any parent knows, there is a considerable shift once the baby arrives – a change that you can no way prepare for. It’s more than just the shift of your day-to-day life. It is also how you perceive things, your priorities, your values, your identity, it ALL changes. I had a lot of the “Who am I now” dialogue going on, and questioned whether or not I was still going to continue as a Nutritionist and Natural health practitioner. But as I let all of that go, and just lived each day as Mummy-me. Over time, the two worlds just naturally merged, and the business change was born, which allowed me to live both lives being equally present.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Ironically sometimes the pros become the cons haha!

The beauty of it is that you can tailor your business and your working day to suit your lifestyle. But being that it is YOUR business you end up spending a lot more time, either mentally, or actively on your work, it is a 24/7 commitment.

You can’t sign off and walkout at the end of the day, it’s always on your mind.

But I believe you are the most content, energised and fulfilled when you are living in your passion, so the reward outweighs the sacrifice.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

A long term goal and dream of mine is to write and publish a book. There are so many topics rolling around in my head, but two key ideas are – introducing solids to babies, a whole foods approach. And holistic pregnancy and postnatal care for mothers. Watch this space!
