The Phatt Way With Nadine: Putting Health At The TOP

It’s never too late to look after your health, right? So why not start now? The Phatt Way, A Better Way was born from a desire to turn a mum’s life around. Nadine Riwai struggled with her weight from a young age, but it wasn’t until she had a daughter of her own that she really faced up to the reality of her own health and wellbeing. It was time to make a change – she had a daughter to be a role model for. So she signed up for the Ph@tt program and it has changed her life. Nadine is now on a mission to encourage more women out there to Put Health At The Top. We spoke to her to learn more about the business she started with two friends.

The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?

The three of us were in need of a health boost – not only weight loss but overall wellness. All in our 40s now, we noticed our energy, mood, sleep and pace of life were out of whack. We came across the PHATT program (Putting Health At The Top). It worked and we gained our mojo back. So we wanted to share it with our loved ones and the PHATT Way, A Better Way was adapted from there.

We are mentors and lovers of the PHATT Way gut health plan for life now. Equally, we are passionate about the products we use to give us the nutrient and mineral boosts our bodies need, but also the live clean philosophy for home and personal use too, with eco friendly, animal friendly products. With our world being consumed by convenience, over-processed and lack of time, we need to be more mindful of what our lives need. Goodness and quality.

The Launch: How did you start out in the beginning?

It was a long time coming. Living in different cities, our meetings consisted of Messenger and Facetime chats. Making sure we were on the same page with what we were sharing. Setting up our site, getting our logo, updating guides – there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing until we all agreed, or agreed to disagree! Lot of laughs along the way and some frustrations. Over a year later we’re still friends so that’s a huge bonus.

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

Finalising our logo and site was a huge incentive for us to move ahead. We had periods of “is it worth it?”, to “absolutely it is!” Because we are offering a valuable option for anyone looking to be a healthier version of themselves. If we can do it, anyone can.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Lists and delegation. We all commit to an area to share the load and take the stress off each other. Turning phone notifications off was an awesome move too; there’s no message that can’t be dealt with later! Don’t get distracted or woken up to your phone constantly buzzing or ringing. Get that rest in to be more productive and get that quality family time in.
