5 Tips for a Healthy Distance-Learning Space for Your Children

3. Switch Things Up

Comfort is key, but that doesn’t mean you can’t change things up here and there. Variety can often bring a bit of pep into your routine if everyone is feeling a bit sluggish. If the weather is beautiful, why not have class outside for a few hours a week? You can host math class in the kitchen by baking and measuring together or do a science project in the backyard. This prevents kids from feeling trapped or like their routine is too stagnant – and it can help you if you feel the same way. The kids will appreciate the space they have, and they’ll experience a fun “field trip,” too.

4. Organise Together

Focus on organisation in your child’s workspace.

A clean, neat area is always the best place to hunker down and get work done, and you can help teach your kids about that by organising together.

Put away all the art supplies, pencils, paper and everything else you might need together so everyone knows where they go. That way, they have access to what they need, and they’ll learn the importance of keeping things neat.

5. Keep Them in the Loop

Organising together doesn’t have to stop at supplies. Keeping open communication is a great way to stay on top of everything that needs to be done. Using a calendar or posting their daily schedule can be a great way to share the responsibility of time management rather than jostling them from one task to the next.

While younger kids might not be able to stay on top of things quite as well, keeping them in the loop can help them get a sense of their day.

Creating a Healthy Distance Learning Environment

Creating a healthy learning and working environment for your children is all about communication, comfort and getting organised. No matter what your space ends up looking like, your kids will flourish with your care and support in their education.
