When your family starts to grow and grow, working full time outside the home can become problematic, especially if you live in a rural area. Tarita Smith has discovered a way to support her family while helping others with their health and wellness goals at the same time. She is part of both the Ketoworks and What The Fit? programs. We spoke to Tarita to learn more about how she got started.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I had lost a lot of weight and was left with a lot extra skin and thought only plastic surgery would get rid of it. After ONLY using six body wraps I was a true believer. Natural products were the only way to go, so when It Works opened in NZ, I knew there were many people I could help not only get energy and relieve stress but actually feel good in their own skin. This business has given me the opportunity helping other hold their heads high with confidence.
The Launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
When I started this business just under four years ago, I was actually working full-time 12-hour shifts around my family. Luckily most of this business is online via social media and I am able to stay home with my kids, especially as I live in a small country town.
I love meeting people and going to do face-to-face sip n’ samples, plus going to expos. Simply just getting out there and showing why I’m so passionate about this business.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
Finance, travel. When I started this business I had three kids at the time and we lived on a farm 45 minutes away from my job. Finances were tight, so I had no option but to work full time. Little did I know that within 11 months of doing this business I was blessed to fall pregnant with my fourth child after being told I couldn’t have any more. So I gave up my full-time job, because this business replaced my whole entire income and I could actually stay home and be a full-time mum to my four kids and run my business.
