Thank you to my hands
for doing so much
you hold and fold
and gently touch
you carry and clean
and give high fives
you keep this family alive
Thank you to my breasts
you have served me well
perky and pert
then milk filled swell
you fed my babies
magic juice
you somehow knew
how to produce
Thank you to my soft, warm tummy
you grew and rounded
as i became mummy
my babies started life
in there
so a legacy
is only fair
Thank you to my mouth and eyes
and thank you to
my comfy thighs
my lap provides
the perfect nook
for telling stories
from favourite books
Thank you to my heart and brain
you mostly keep me
fairly sane
you help me read
and then reflect
you help me laugh,
and chat,
and connect
Thank you body
for the strength you hold
things are changing
and getting old
but i am grateful
to live in you
and i’m going to try
and nurture you, too.
