The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Luckily enough I haven’t had too many challenges yet. One challenge I recently experienced was dealing with manufacturing issues with a new printer. Investing a lot of money into printing a high volume of journals with a new printer I knew would be risky and it has been frustrating to deal with some issues that have arisen. I have high standards for my journals and what I put out into the world so it is important to me that I take my time to resolve any manufacturing issues I have. Challenges are a part of running your own business and I try my best to lean into them and move on as best I can.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Pros: a creative outlet as a mother, a way to meet and connect with others, a deeper sense of financial security and independence, a sense of purpose in making a positive impact in my community and the world at large, flexible working hours, freedom to do what I want, keeps me engaged and fulfilled, so many pros!
Cons: at times it can be stressful and take us away from mothering or doing other things we love but honestly that’s all I can think of right now!

Hopes and dreams: What next?
I have big goals of reaching more pregnant women across Australia and would love to see my journals in more retail stores. I hope to have hundreds, if not thousands, more pregnant women use and love my journal and receive feedback that it truly helped them. This year specifically I’m focusing on finding more stockists and launching my new mother’s journal! I’m super excited to share my new mother’s journal with conscious mothers who love to journal as I know it will be an inspiring resource for them.
I dream of seeing real changes in the pregnancy and birth space here in Australia: at a systemic level better outcomes for women and babies and culturally a shift in more reverence and honouring of the rites of passages that pregnancy and birth are for women. I want to be a part of that change by helping more pregnant women engage in powerful healing inner work: supporting them as they transition from maiden to mature mother.
