An Instinctive, Nurturing Approach to Infant Sleep Support

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Getting our name out there was (and still is, although it’s getting slightly easier) so out of our comfort zone. We’re both teachers and – it seems to come with the territory – suffer with chronic imposter syndrome! However, having seen some of the very dodgy and misinformed sleep “expertise” out there, we are confident in our knowledge and training, so have just had to maximise on that!

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Pros? You can put in as much or as little work as you want, and you can choose when you work. We do the work because we love it, and if we’re not feeling it that day, we don’t!

Cons? It’s much harder to set boundaries. Because of being mums to young children, we only have time to work either when they’re around (which is obviously very tricky!) or when they’re not with us, which isn’t often. We’ve also had to make sure we set aside time for our friendship too – it’s very easy to blur the lines between work and life chat! However, we started out as good friends and wouldn’t have got into this together if it weren’t for our solid friendship, so it’s easy for one of us to just say, “Enough work chat now!”.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We just want to be able to spread the word about biologically normal infant sleep to everyone! The mainstream “sleep training” behavioural approaches to sleep are so widespread that it can feel hard to fight against such ingrained myths. We would love for this instinctive, nurturing approach to infant sleep (and infancy in general) to become the “norm”.
