The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Running your own business is challenging. The most significant factor for me is time. I have many ideas and ways to continue growing and expanding my business. Being organised and regularly completing admin tasks helps me to stay on top of what needs to be completed. Having a space to work and record upcoming tasks allows me to have fewer thoughts running around.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Being your boss is a dream come true. I love that I am utilising all of the skills and essential elements I have learnt together in the businesses I have created. Starting up a new business is always tricky as it takes money and lots of time to invest in it to ensure it keeps growing. The biggest con I find is how I have needed to put on many different hats and perform various roles for my business. As a sole trader, you are the owner, records manager, financial record manager, advertising specialist, and marketing guru, to name a few. It is a steep learning curve, but it has been fun along the way!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Next, I want to continue creating educational resources for parents to use to help their early school-age child/ren with pre-reading skills (phonemic awareness), along with continuing to publish more books. I have been busy writing my next two books. One will be the next part in the Joey’s Adventures series. It is still in the editing phase to ensure the best version is created.
