Cute traditions and ideas for new mums

4. Balloons!

Balloons are just fun! One of the new, cute ideas you can try out is tying a balloon to your kid’s ankle while they are lying down on their back. Since newborns are not so mobile and mostly kick their legs around, this could be the time of their lives! They can bounce it around and kick it, probably try to grab it, but the excitement will be there. If they are crying or grumpy, this could be a fun way to make them giggle and smile. Another cheerful activity could be a party with lots of balloons! They are not usually expensive, so it will not affect your budget too much. Kids enjoy exciting things, and many balloons around the house are just an invitation to a great party.

4. Just a day with your baby

It is great having so many friends and family members visiting and being part of a new and big chapter in your life. But if you do manage to steal some time from work and other responsibilities, try having once a week or once every two weeks where you just spend a whole day alone with your baby. You can lie down in bed and watch cartoons, sing songs, play with toys, or enjoy a bath together. It might require some advance preparation, but having a special day could also continue to be a lovely family activity.

5. Pillow fort

Once your newborn is crawling and old enough to grab things, throwing pillows around the house and building magical forts could be a blast of a time! Kids love having a special place where they can hide, construct, and have an alternative universe, so why not be part of it. Use blankets, soft cushions, chairs, anything which will help build the most extraordinary place for your kids.

6. Music

Choose what works best for you and your child. Gentle lullabies or songs for kids could be a good choice to calm them down if they are frustrated or tired. If they are fussy, dancing with them could be a great routine to introduce. Music will calm them down and you will both get to do a fun activity together and stretch a bit.

There are so many benefits of being a mother. There are stressful periods, followed by incredible experiences and amazing memories. Take your time: find what works for you, and try to enjoy each day.
