At Flow Factory, Melissa Vermaak is on a mission to teach and empower individuals to overcome trauma and significantly improve their health by accessing their own inner healing abilities. Her vision is to integrate a natural, safe, and non-invasive healing modality, releasing pain and awakening innate healing potential. On discovering the Spinal Flow Technique – a powerful healing modality that resonated with her on a soul-deep level – she became a certified practitioner and is now dedicated to helping others experience its transformative potential. Here Melissa talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about what inspired her to create her business, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The Passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
Amid the challenges of 2020, as the reality of job loss set in, a hunger for a new adventure sparked inspiration, leading me to seek something that ignited my soul. Little did I know that this moment would lead to a profound discovery – the Spinal Flow Technique, a powerful healing modality resonating on a soul-deep level.
The Launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
The journey began with a personal calling to the Spinal Flow Technique, and despite it still being in its infancy, and never having tried it myself, I launched into learning everything I could about this transformative force. Starting small, I persevered through many challenges, and since becoming a certified practitioner in September 2021, I’ve dedicated myself to this science-backed healing modality.
The Innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
The breakthrough was overcoming the challenge of learning about something that I’ve never experienced or heard of, then explaining the transformative nature of Spinal Flow to a broader audience. This became a significant phase of innovation, marked by consistent networking, exposure, and collaborations with local practitioners, which lead us to witness remarkable changes in the lives of our clients.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Juggling work and family necessitates a profound dedication to respect, safety, and infusing clarity and ease into each healing session. Striking this balance is crucial in managing the demands of entrepreneurship while treasuring moments with my family, particularly as a new mom. I must confess, I find great joy in my time with clients, and occasionally, my partner Daniel has noted that I may extend sessions beyond the initially planned hours.
