The Passion: What Inspired Me to Start Procure Physio?

I’ve been a physiotherapist since 2004, and from day one, I fell in love with the ability to help people reconnect with their bodies, reduce pain, and regain their confidence in movement. Physiotherapy is a noble profession, and over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the right care can transform lives.

When I moved to Australia, I was introduced to new perspectives on healthcare and patient empowerment. Working in both public and private sectors, I realised there was a gap in truly holistic care. Patients needed more than symptom relief; they needed education, prevention, and a sustainable approach to health. This realisation led me to establish Procure Physio in 2022, combining manual therapy, individualised exercise programs, and education-all under one roof, complete with an in-house gym and Pilates studio. This holistic, movement-centred model became the foundation of Procure Physio.

The Launch: Starting Out and Overcoming Adversity

Launching Procure Physio was far from smooth. I left a secure, well-paid job in a public hospital and started out as a solo practitioner in 2017. By 2022, I had finally opened my own practice. But just 10 days in, my husband had a massive heart attack, followed by a bypass surgery the next year. With two school-aged children, a sick husband, and no family support nearby, there were moments when I felt completely overwhelmed.

Yet, my clients-who waited patiently for me to return to work-gave me the strength to keep going. Friends and family supported me through those challenging times, and eventually, Procure Physio began to thrive. These experiences taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of building a strong support system.

The Innovation: My Biggest Breakthrough in Business

Starting this business was transformative. I discovered resilience I didn’t know I had, and it made me a stronger leader. Running a practice isn’t just about being a skilled clinician; it requires vision, organisation, and the ability to build a cohesive team.

I learned that creating systems is essential for maintaining a consistent, high-quality client experience, even if my team members’ approaches vary slightly. This structure allows us to provide a seamless experience that aligns with our values and goals, even when I’m not directly involved in every session.

Yin and Yang: Balancing Work and Family

Balancing the demands of a new business with family life is an ongoing journey. There are days when I feel burnt out, but I remind myself of the vision that inspired me to start Procure Physio. My husband has been a rock through it all, stepping up to take on more responsibilities with our kids and home. We’ve reversed roles in many ways, and it’s allowed me to focus on the business when needed.

Every quarter, we take a few days off to recharge, sometimes locally and occasionally overseas, for a longer break once a year. These moments remind me of the importance of balance and recharging to keep showing up as my best self.
