The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
I would say I experience the same challenges as any other business owner. Self-doubt is a big one – ‘What was I thinking?’.
Isolation is another big one when you first start out. You aren’t working in a busy environment with lots of other staff anymore. But having two littlies and a stay-at-home husband means if you do get lonely, company is never far away. In this day and age, there are also so many networking groups set up, so you can bounce ideas off other people and be a part of and amazing group.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are definitely the flexibility and being able to do things the way we want. Being able to stop in the middle of the day and go to swimming lessons with the kids or pick them up from daycare are a huge bonus.
I also love having a surprise visitor (my 2.5-year-old) when he climbs out of his cot and makes his way downstairs to where I am working in the morning.
At this point in time, I am not sure there are any cons!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We would like to focus on growth: making sure our resources and processes are set up correctly to handle the growth of taking on many more new customers that we can help.
We also want to enjoy life and not be too stressed, so our children grow up seeing us happy and a part of their lives as much as we can!
