Pack lunches the night before – Even if you don’t plan on heading out for the day, grabbing a prepped lunch box out of the fridge saves SO much time trying to make and create when bellies are rumbling.
Activities Prepped – This has been a game changer in the quest to reduce screen time! When the little ones wake to a pre-set-up activity, they play more independently and for much longer. It reduces the overwhelm of trying to work out a game on the fly and the children will often create something further from the activity using their own imagination.
Time allocated for TV/devices: As much as we love learning activities together, there are times when us parents need some time to catch up on one or twenty things. Our key has been setting a time limit, so the little ones also know what to expect.
Asking the children to help – They love it! Including them with dinner, laundry, gardening, tidying up. This builds confidence and independence. It’s sometimes easy to forget how capable they really are, when we just give them the time to learn with us. They are born little helpers!
All of these little things help fill all of our cups (and tire them out) to allow me to work on our business during sleeping time.
It is not always smooth sailing, but it is a great adventure!
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
There are so many big competitors in the baby industry, charging lots for baby products. I remind myself we began this journey to provide parents with affordable and practical baby products, so they can enjoy more time with their little ones. Our genuine care and desire to help other families is what will help us stand out
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros of running our own family business are that we can create and build a community to support other families, using the knowledge and experience we collect along the way. We can be creative in the way we do this, in our own time. Receiving customers’ feedback can influence how we grow and the direction we take. This is so exciting! It’s ours to blossom. On the flip side, there is no ‘OFF’ button. I’m always thinking, planning and coming up with new ideas to make parenting a little easier for others. Finding the time to implement these can definitely be a challenge.
