Handmade Soaps, Lotions & Balms: For the Most Sensitive of Skin

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

A lot in my personal life… I had a motorbike accident many years ago which left me with a metal wrist and a bad neck. I still feel that pain years later but I do my best to take it slow and I use my Chilli Pain Stick when I need it. I also had a physical storefront at one point, but rent rose through the roof so I had to take my workshop back home, where I’ve been doing it ever since thanks to my loyal customer base.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

I would say the pros are that you work on your own schedule and you get to make your own decisions about creative directions you want to go in. The main con would be the sheer amount of work it takes to make everything from scratch, market it, handle financial things, sell it and so on, whereas bigger companies can divide that responsibility up.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I hope to keep helping people and growing my business. We have started going to markets again and Bridgett redid my website for me. I want to make something really special that I am happy to leave her with when I retire one day.
