The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The pressures of trying to be a perfect daughter, perfect wife, mother and perfect dentist. Trying to live a perfect life has left me feeling lonelier and filled with anxiety. It fuelled my self-doubt and self-criticism every day. It left me feeling broken and empty, and I felt like I couldn’t get anything right. Following a massive panic attack one day, I had enough of feeling overwhelmed. I needed more from the medical high achieving path that was paved for me. I needed more from life, and I knew there was more out there. This is where my healing journey began. Breaking barriers as an Asian Immigrant Medical Professional – it’s been hard and it’s been incredibly lonely! I’ve worked hard to pave the path for myself.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that I get to choose my own hours and I get to be with my family when it matters.
The cons are the endless admin work that you have to do – you are literally juggling so many roles: managing social media, emails, content planning and collabs on top of doing actual work. But this is where prioritising what’s important in the NOW is essential to find a balance.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I want to develop Bloom Into Happiness further into a holistic wellness hub that offers diverse services such as therapy, yoga, Qi Gong meditation and spiritual counselling. I want to create group workshops and to reach woman and especially mums out there to guide them toward self-compassion, self-love, emotional resilience and authentic living.
Visit the Bloom to Happiness website to find out more, and connect with them on Facebook and Instagram.
