Movement, Mindfulness & Knowledge to Support You Through Pregnancy & Postpartum

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

My second pregnancy came with its own set of challenges, particularly pregnancy sickness and pelvic girdle pain. But these difficulties have really informed my work. I’ve taken additional training on treating the pelvic floor for issues like pain, incontinence, and heaviness, and I now run a postnatal class specifically for women dealing with these symptoms. Kegels weren’t the answer for me-they actually made my pain worse-so I learned exercises that reduce tension in the pelvic floor. Now, I combine my yoga practice with what I’ve learned from a pelvic health physio and personal trainer to better support women in this area. I’ve also tailored part of my pregnancy yoga course to help those suffering from pregnancy sickness, using breathwork, relaxation, and mindfulness techniques to manage those symptoms.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Running my own business definitely has its perks, especially being able to work around my children’s schedules. I get to choose who I work with and what projects I take on, and that fills my heart with joy, supporting my own mental health and well-being, which is so important to support life as a mother. Prioritising myself is always a challenge. If I have child-free time, I need to get better at sticking those walking boots on and heading to the beach! We live just 5 minutes from a beautiful Northumberland coastline and I want to get back to enjoying that now that Beatrice is a little bigger and less reliant on breast milk. (Although still an avid milk monster at nighttime).

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Looking ahead, I’m excited about what’s to come. Next year, I’ll be launching an online membership called REGULATE, which uses yoga and mindfulness practices to support nervous system regulation for parents in the early years. I’m also working on a new online course to help women better understand their menstrual cycles. I believe that knowing your cycle is key to transformative birth experiences. Women should step into their power as their cycles begin in their teenage years. Periods are our secret weapon, and I want women to see this for themselves. If we can find our power and trust our bodies before we fall pregnant, then our pregnancy and birthing journeys will be so much easier to navigate. I want to continue inspiring a generation of mothers to step into their power and love their bodies for all that they are capable of. I believe in embracing motherhood in a way that feels right for each of us, allowing it to be a slow, joyful journey. It’s about honouring your own path, finding strength in the process, and nurturing yourself as you nurture your children. This is *motherhood your way* – an experience full of grace, patience, and deep connection to your own body and intuition using yoga and mindful practice.
