Parenting Together: Nurturing Families with Compassion, Connection and Calm

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

The biggest challenge I’ve had to overcome? Myself.

Like so many mothers, I wrestled with impostor syndrome, self-doubt, and that nagging voice whispering, You’re not enough. Not just as a mother, but as a professional, too. I’d catch myself thinking, How can I help other parents when I’m still figuring things out myself?

Reparenting changed everything. Learning to meet my own emotional needs-the ones that had been overlooked in my own childhood-helped me rewrite the story in my head. Instead of beating myself up, I started offering myself the same compassion and patience I give my kids and the parents I work with.

And here’s the wild part: what I once saw as a weakness became one of my biggest strengths. Doing this inner work didn’t just help me-it gave me a deep, real understanding of what so many parents struggle with. It made my work more authentic, more impactful, and more fulfilling.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

One of the biggest perks of running my own business is the freedom. Freedom to homeschool, to spend real quality time with my kids, to shape our days around connection, to follow the yearly seasons and my monthly cycle -without being boxed in by a 9-to-5 schedule. It’s the kind of balance I want my children to see, to feel, so they grow up knowing that work and life don’t have to be in constant competition.

But here’s the catch: when you work for yourself-especially in a role where you’re supporting others-it’s way too easy to feel like you should always be “on”. In the beginning, I’d find myself answering emails at night, feeling guilty if I wasn’t instantly available to help.

Learning to set boundaries has been one of my toughest lessons, but also one of the most important. I’ve had to be intentional about protecting my time and energy-setting actual work hours, unplugging at night, and not checking my phone when I should be present with my family. It’s still a work in progress, but every step toward balance is a step toward the life I want for myself and my kids.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

For me, this isn’t just about growing a business – it’s about fuelling a movement. I want Aware Parenting to become the go-to alternative to mainstream parenting, a way for families to break free from cycles of disconnection and control. I dream of a world where parents feel empowered to raise their children with connection, respect, and an understanding of how the nervous system shapes everything-from sleep to inner safety to the way we relate to others.

In the next few years, my family and I hope to move back to Mexico, where I’ll continue this work and bring Aware Parenting to an even wider audience. I’m also working toward becoming a Level 2 Aware Parenting Instructor so I can support more parents and help build a truly global community of compassionate, connected families.

I don’t believe in infinite growth as a business model. I’m not here to build an empire-I’m here to contribute to a collective vision. One that honours inclusivity, cultural diversity, and the power of emotional connection. Because real change doesn’t come from one person-it comes from all of us, shifting the way we parent, the way we care for ourselves, each other, and the world we share.
