The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Confidence has been a big one – just owning the fact that I work hard and produce great results. It took a while to actually say that out loud without second-guessing myself!
Another challenge has been refining pricing and services at Huia Creative. I want to make sure small businesses get the value they need while still running a sustainable business myself. Finding that balance has been a constant learning process.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The biggest pro of running my own business is flexibility, hands down! If I have lighter workload days, I make sure to use that time for myself – grabbing coffee with a friend, getting life admin sorted, or tackling things that will make future-me grateful.
As for cons, self-motivation can be tricky. Some mornings, I feel like I need an extra push to get going. Working solo can also feel a bit isolating, which is why I’m actively putting myself out there more: networking, connecting with other business owners, and making sure I’m surrounded by great energy.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’d love to grow Huia Creative into a small team of like-minded women who share my passion for helping businesses thrive. There’s something really special about working with people who get your vision, and I’d love to build a company that supports small and medium-sized businesses in a way that feels personal and impactful.
