LLL Leaders can provide one-to-one breastfeeding support via whichever channel works for you: phone, text, or online via email or Facebook. We provide information in the form of resources, research, books, articles and practical ideas to assist you with making decisions about overcoming whatever you are facing. We also encourage parents to draw from the shared experiences of those in the group at meetings, coffee mornings and online.
Breastfeeding can be hard work at times and a sense of connection with those who are at the same ages and stages as you, as well as those who have walked that road before, is so important. It is so common for parents to feel confused, disconnected and unsupported at any point on their parenting journey and having a community of like-minded supporters to turn to can make all the difference. LLLNZ maintains a wonderful online community, so if you aren’t in a position to attend in person, you can participate in the online discussions and monthly meetings on Facebook to get the support we all need as parents. Many parents have found that there’s always at least one other person awake at 3am and online, ready to comment and offer support!
LLLNZ encourages women and their whānau to attend group meetings, take part in online discussions or contact an LLL Leader even before your baby is born. Being around other breastfeeding whānau and watching and learning can be a wonderful way to boost your own confidence and add to your parenting toolbox. Breastfeeding support is not just about overcoming challenges in the early days but about continued support through all the stages until your child is fully weaned. LLL Leaders, groups and other breastfeeding whānau are ready to support you on your breastfeeding journey all across Aotearoa and beyond.
