Whole Again: Helping Single Mums Reclaim Confidence, Love & Self-Worth

For Better or Worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Running my own business, especially in a field so deeply connected to my purpose, offers unique insights into the very challenges my clients face. It’s a journey with its highs and lows, much like motherhood itself.

Pros:

  • Reclaiming my identity and purpose: I have the creative freedom and power of decision-making that allows me to build a life and career aligned with who I truly am. After feeling lost, this sense of agency is incredibly powerful.
  • Profound fulfilment: The direct impact I have on helping other mothers brings a deep sense of fulfilment that’s unlike anything I’ve experienced. It’s purpose-driven work.
  • Role modelling for my children: It’s a powerful opportunity to show my children alternative career paths – that you can build a life doing what you love and what truly lights you up.
  • Designing my life (mostly!): The flexibility to shape my work around my life (mostly!) is invaluable. It allows me to navigate family needs while still nurturing my professional passion, rather than constantly feeling like I’m just reacting to external demands.
  • Continuous growth: There’s potential for uncapped growth and learning, pushing me to constantly evolve both personally and professionally.

Cons (or unique aspects to navigate):

  • Navigating solitude: While I build deep connections with my clients, the entrepreneurial path can sometimes involve less regular face-to-face team interaction, requiring me to proactively seek out my own community and support.
  • Embracing full ownership: The full weight of responsibility rests with me. This can be demanding, but it also means every success is truly my own, and every challenge provides valuable lessons. I took on support in my business and it was a huge relief to feel and know they worked towards the same goals and purpose!
  • Dynamic learning curves: There’s a dynamic learning curve, especially with the tech side and navigating the online world. It often means stepping outside my comfort zone, which highlights the value of seeking external guidance and learning new skills.
  • Intentional boundary setting: The blurring of work-life boundaries can be a real challenge. It requires constant, intentional effort to create space for both work and personal life, a journey many working mums can relate to when striving for balance and reclaiming their own time.
Hopes and Dreams: What next?

Looking ahead, I want to reach more mums – especially single mums – who feel lost, stuck or like they’ve forgotten who they are.

Through my heart-centred coaching, I’ve seen how life-changing this work can be. And I want to share it even wider. I’ve been thinking about writing everything I’ve learned – my story, the tools, the steps that work – into something women can hold in their hands. A simple, honest guide to reconnecting with yourself, rebuilding your confidence and finding love from a place of strength. The kind of support I wish I had years ago.
