While it can be fun to play around with pretty filters and things, ideally we would all be so comfortable as Tova Leigh in our own bodies, exactly as they are. Because perfect doesn’t actually exist. We all know that. Being real is awesome, and mothers especially – with their changed bodies – need that validation the most.
“Well let me tell you something: THIS IS REAL,” she says. “In all my mum-tum, cellulitis, granny pants and absolutely zero thigh gap glory! Not the perfect sexy body by some dictated standard, but imperfectly fabulous because it is real and it is mine.”
So next time you start comparing yourself to the perfect bodies and faces you see all over Instagram and Facebook, take Tova Leigh’s advice:
Social media is full of shit.
You are beautiful just the way you are.
And there is nothing sexier than being real.
