The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
A major challenge I have found is sustaining the motivation required to get in there and get the work done! Working from home in a business that is online-based means that there is not the constant communication with other people that propels you on to the next task. The niggling feeling that the washing needs to be done, or the dinner prepared is a daily struggle.
I try to focus myself on the reason I am here. I am doing what I love. I love to be involved in something that I believe in. I love being included in such wonderful events in people’s lives. I still find that a majority of my orders come from repeat clients or people that have been referred to me by friends and family members. I love watching families grow with each new announcement card, birthday invitation or Christmas greeting. And the joy I get from my small part in helping put a smile on their faces.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The biggest pro of running my own business is that I am the one to make the all the decisions regarding helloBABY. I have control over the style of my products, how they are produced and knowing that the work I am sending out to customers is of the highest possible quality.
In saying that, a major con is also having to be the one to make all the decisions regarding helloBABY! There are always the days that overwhelm can grab a hold, or when you seem to second guess your decisions. I am extremely lucky to have my clients and Facebook family there to let me know that I am on the right track with their comments and reorders which encourage me daily to continue to do what I do. And continue to strive further every day.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I am constantly adding new products and categories to the helloBABY catalogue. I have recently included a range of Nursery Prints which can be ordered to compliment a child’s announcement card design or as an individual purchase. Our Baby Birth Nursery Prints are a perfect way to commemorate the welcoming of a new arrival, and will be a cherished keepsake forever, long after they are taken down from the wall!
A new Birthday Package range is also on the drawing board. Clients will be able to order their Birthday invitations with the option of adding a selection of extras to help to create a running theme for their child’s big day, including lolly bag bonbonnieres, posters and much more!
And as always, I plan to keep in constant touch with all of the mums and dads out there! What better way to stay ahead of the ever changing trends and I will continue to provide custom designs to be sure that each new baby is announced to the world in a way that is as individual as they are.
