5 Aussie kids’ albums that parents will love too

Angie Who – Littlefolk

Described as “parent friendly kids’ music”, Littlefolk is a delight from start to finish. Classics like ‘Skip to my Lou’ and ‘Shortenin’ Bread’ are complemented perfectly by Angie’s own work, including ‘Hey Sun’ and ‘Let’s Take a Walk’. I’ve been known to listen to this album when there were no children in earshot. Fair warning though, the side effects of ‘Travelling Band’ include a deep desire for another baby.

Holly Throsby – See!

Author, band member, and solo artist, is there nothing Holly can’t do? See! is a gorgeous collection of originals that are creative and fun, promising younger listeners adventure and whimsy. ‘Diamonds are so Shiny’ is on regular rotation in our household, and Holly’s melodious tones are so calming.

Various Artists – Re-Wiggled

It would be truly remiss of me to leave Australian powerhouse, The Wiggles, off a list of the best Australian kids’ music. Re-Wiggled is all your favourite Wiggles songs (come on, you KNOW you know all the words to Hot Potato), performed by iconic Aussie artists who usually stay in the adult lane of the musical track. With contributions by The Living End, Busby Marou, Spiderbait and Sarah Blasko, this album is guaranteed to make you smile.

Haylee Hackenberg is a writer, a pre-service teacher and a mama to two. Striving for gentle, and sharing adventures of their little life on Instagram and Facebook.
