When life gets busy with school runs, bedtime stories, and the beautiful chaos of family life, it’s easy to put off the important conversations. But what if something happened to you tomorrow? Four mums from Life Is Too Short Limited share their passion for helping families protect their loved ones through Wills, Trusts, and Lasting Power of Attorney.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
“After over 10 years working in wills, trusts, and LPAs, I was becoming increasingly frustrated“, shares Jay-anne, Life Is Too Short’s Founder, CEO and one of four co-directors. “There was this huge gap in how these vital services were being delivered. Clients were getting lost in legal jargon, treated like case numbers rather than real people with real fears and dreams for their families“.
Jay-anne had spent years working for other firms, watching families struggle to understand what should be empowering conversations about protecting their loved ones. “I kept thinking, there has to be a better way. These aren’t just legal documents – they’re about love, protection and peace of mind. But nobody was speaking that language“.
That frustration became the spark for something bigger. Jay-anne knew she wanted to start her own business, but more importantly, she wanted to build a team that shared her vision of human-focused estate planning.
“I handpicked a formidable team of Directors: Billie, Emily and Leanda, specifically for our complementary skills and our shared passion for this mission”, Jay-anne explains. “Each of us has our own deeply personal reasons for caring about this work – different emotional experiences that drive our commitment to helping families”.

As mums ourselves, we understand that behind every enquiry about Wills and LPAs is a parent who loves their children fiercely and wants to protect them. We know the sleepless nights, the ‘what if’ worries and that overwhelming feeling of not knowing where to start.
“Our main mission isn’t just about getting the paperwork sorted“, says Billie, our Creative Director. “It’s about giving families the freedom to embrace life fully, without that constant background worry about what might happen. When you know your loved ones are protected, you can focus on making memories instead of managing fears“.
That’s the heart of everything we do – transforming estate planning from something that keeps you awake at night into something that helps you sleep peacefully, knowing your family’s future is secure.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
We launched Life Is Too Short Limited with a simple belief: estate planning shouldn’t be scary, complicated or something you put off until “someday”. We wanted to create a space where families could have these important conversations with warmth, understanding and without the legal jargon that makes your eyes glaze over.

Our first step was offering free monthly webinars – because we believe education is empowerment. We alternate between understanding Wills, Trusts and Lasting Power of Attorney, making these crucial topics accessible to busy parents who might otherwise never find the time to learn about them.
“The response was incredible“, says Billie, our Creative Director. “Parents were hungry for this information, but they wanted it delivered in a way that felt supportive, not overwhelming. They didn’t want to be scared into action – they wanted to be empowered to protect what they love most“.
What makes us different is our human-led approach. We’re not just legal professionals – we’re mums who understand the unique challenges of modern parenting. We know what it’s like to juggle everything and still worry if we’re doing enough to secure our children’s futures.
