The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
There are always challenges in running a business. One of the biggest challenges has been stock forecasting and cash-flow management. It is crucial to order enough stock of our core range to avoid running out, while also avoiding over-ordering and disrupting cash-flow. The past three years have also been difficult due to issues like production delays and shipping disruptions caused by the COVID pandemic. We have faced significant delays in receiving stock, sometimes receiving multiple seasons’ worth at once. However, I enjoy problem-solving and remain focused on long-term goals and values, which helps me stay grounded during tough times.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros of running my own business include creating something that aligns with my values, having flexibility with my time, and the freedom to pursue what I love. However, there can be financial stress at times, as the financial certainty of a weekly paycheck that comes with traditional employment is not present.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We have recently found a new Australian Distributor, and we hope that they will help increase our brand recognition in Australia. I aspire to have our brand continually recognised and appreciated for its unique designs and ethical production. I also hope that families will be willing to invest in our high-quality clothes that can be handed down or sold as pre-loved, contributing to a sustainable future for our world. As the saying goes, “Every dollar spent is a vote for the world we want to live in”.
