I knew I wanted to catch my own baby this time around. I had pushed my first two babies into the hands of our midwife and my husband, and for my third baby, I reached down and pulled her up to me with the help of my midwife and mother.
This time I wanted to catch my baby all by myself. I had enough confidence and experience at this point, and it seemed like such an empowering act. My midwife helped with positioning suggestions so that I was poised to catch her, and my hands were the only ones that went down to feel her as her head emerged. There was a deep and satisfying synchronization of my body pushing and my hands gently pulling, and then there she was, our Opal, dark haired, tiny and beautiful.
What a beautiful story!!
I absolutely LoVE your eye for color!
WOW, so beautiful!
Wow!! What a beautiful birth centered around family. I love that she had specific preferences based on past birth experiences. And that cord is so interesting– coiled and then not coiled at all! Jenna captured the story beautifully!
Beautiful shots!
Incredibly beautiful, and such a powerful story. Love!
Beautiful work, Jenna. The light is so gorgeous and you captured emotions and their story perfectly!
