Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
We had an easy time of balancing family and work as our business is just beginning and we have so much support from our other family members. We all live close together on a farm and share in a lot of the daily chores and time with the children.
The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The biggest challenge when starting up our business was developing the website and navigating social media. We are novices in the technology department and have had a lot to learn. We are doing everything ourselves and haven’t hired any tech support.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Running our own business has proven challenging so far but well worth it and really fun. It’s very different from teaching and midwifery where you have a set of guidelines to follow. Between both of us and our forever busy schedules, we find it tricky to make time to sit down together and work on our business. It seems to happen organically and with a lot of help and support from our other family members (they are all legends). For example, in order to sit down and write this business profile we had to organize a time when both Rachael’s children were napping (loving husband home to watch sleeping babes) and when Kerrie had a break in her schedule and no babies being born. We have to juggle quite a bit, but miraculously we are able to find the time to pursue this passion.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We have high hopes of writing a book and creating an online store.
