Learn the Power of Connection Through Touch

The Hart of Mothering

Metasha Reynolds’ journey with baby massage and baby yoga began when she was a child growing up in Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa, watching her grandmother massage the new babies of family and friends. Metasha then applied the skills that she was taught and practised baby massage and baby yoga on each of her 7 children. Having seen the benefits of the power of touch first hand, she was inspired to train as a baby massage and baby yoga instructor, with a goal to teach other mums the art of baby massage and baby yoga in a fun, judgement-free environment. Through The Hart of Mothering, she shares her passion for connection through love, touch and nurture.

The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?

I was inspired by the tradition of baby massage and by my journey though motherhood. I grew up watching my Nani (Grandma) massage the babies in our family. My mum massaged my eldest daughter when she was born, and I continued this tradition with all 7 of my children. As my family grew, I spent a lot of time researching and learning about parent and baby wellness. I am also a registered pharmacy professional and found the science behind baby massage and the power of positive touch on both parent and baby fascinating.

I wanted to create a business that allowed me to spend more time with my growing family while supporting parents in the early day of parenthood.

My business motto is Love, Touch, Nurture because I therefore wanted to create a welcoming space for mothers to come together to create community, learn the art of baby massage/baby yoga but most importantly, for both mums AND their babies to feel nurtured

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?

I started my business during lockdown, so my first classes were online. I created nurture packs which included essentials for baby massage as well as treats for mum and baby and posted it out to my customers. I then progressed to in-person classes and have met some wonderful parents and their babies.

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

The biggest breakthrough for me was discovering Blossom and Berry, which provided all the necessary training that I needed to launch my business. Being able to do the courses online around the needs of my young family was perfect for me.
