Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

When you’ve worked in the corporate world for a long time and find your passion and purpose, it’s worth getting criticised by your family for working so hard. On a more serious note, it does not feel like work anymore. Having a purpose and feeling we are contributing to the greater cause is the most satisfying part of running our business.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Being a sixties child has been extremely challenging as every task to make a business successful requires some sort of technical application. So the learning curve has been a vertical one. I’ve surrounded myself with people that are better than me and understand how to communicate with potential customers.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Running your own business is very rewarding, especially now that we are leaders in the sustainable space and have a purpose to make positive change. We see the cons as part of the day-to-day learnings of running our business – like maintaining cash flows.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We are looking to grow our brand into a lifestyle so not only are newborns able to feel safe in what they wear, but families know that they are doing good by not supporting fast fashion. We will soon have our adults’ range of clean essential items and in time older kids and home textiles like bedding and towels.
