Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family? 

I can always tell when I have the balance wrong because I feel really unsettled. (That might be the polite way of me saying tired and moody). It is so easy to just keep going and do just one more thing on the “to do” list and before you know it another day is over.  It really is a conscious decision to allocate family time and me time. It has taken me a long time to realise that self-care is not selfish, it is necessary and actually promotes productivity, healthy relationships and overall wellbeing. I can tell when the balance is better because I feel more content and I have less tendency to sweat the small stuff. 

The drive: What challenges have you overcome? 

I think we are always overcoming challenges and we like it that way because it means we are constantly moving forwards and growing. The biggest challenges we have found being an online business are getting our stock levels right, managing our use by dates and getting seen in the maze of online traffic that is now a reality for a lot of business owners. 

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business? 

Pros – Working with my daughter, creating a family business. That excitement when you make a sale and the genuine reward when you get a review from a customer who is thrilled with their purchase, especially one that has improved their health. Sourcing new products and dealing with likeminded people.  

Cons – Due to being an online business the speed at which the business is growing can be frustrating – you can have the best products at the best prices but if you are not being seen you are not getting sales. 

Hopes and dreams: What next? 

The sky is the limit! We hope to employ more people and open physical stores. Creation of our own range of eco-friendly products is something we would love to explore in the future.
