The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Many! I have to wear all the hats every day! I have gone from something I knew well to lots of things I don’t know anything about. There were times when I wanted to give up because it was all very overwhelming and it all seemed too hard. The biggest challenge is probably my own self-doubt and I have to continuously tell myself I can do it and I am capable.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
There is never nothing to do and without a proper structure or plan, that can be overwhelming and create a lot of work. Being able to balance out the days or week between work and play was a big part of choosing to run my own business.
The biggest thing for me is that this truly is my passion – As the saying goes, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
The ideas that kept morphing at the set-up stage of e&b co. have only scratched the surface of where I want to take the business. I want to move into children’s room interiors and cater more for the tweens space. Keeping the business as true to my vision, I want my collections to be different. I like fun, playful patterns that add a pop of colour and make you smile.
