Founded in 2018 by mum and teacher Sara Jamieson, Funny Bunny Kids is a beautiful online boutique selling New Zealand-made artisan products for little hands and growing minds. Their products are designed with babies and children in mind, using sustainable materials that are both safe and stylish, whilst providing little ones with the freedom to explore. They are committed to bringing you beautiful, safe and authentic pieces that you and your child will love. Here, Sara talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind Funny Bunny Kids, the pros and cons of running your own business, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I began making bibs for my daughter Poppie (now 4), as we were living in rural Western Australia. I wasn’t able to get bibs for a bottle-fed newborn that didn’t let milk spill down her neck or bunch up under her chin. She was a terrible teether and I could never get anything that was practical yet aesthetically pleasing, so I started doing these myself. I just wanted beautiful yet functional products
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
I had a friend who had a gift store and tried out some pieces, and so did the local children’s boutique. They went well and things grew from there.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
New Zealand-made milestone plaques were a turning point for Funny Bunny Kids, as was exhibiting at the NZ Gift Fair to retailers in 2019. It was all about just believing in what we were creating and providing.
