The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Sourcing beautiful, high-quality fabrics that complement our designs has been one of our biggest challenges. It took time, but we take pride in the quality and beauty of our range, and we’re always changing the fabrics we stock to offer variety. Because we hand make and design everything ourselves, we are also able to tweak things to suit our customers’ needs. From making slightly bigger bibs, to ordering special fabrics for a Wellchild cover – we always do our best to accommodate and make our Willa pieces as special as possible.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
We also all work full-time jobs alongside running Willa – and yes, it’s a juggle! But we’ve managed to keep up with the hustle of work, family and our wee business. Orders are processed daily and usually shipped within 24 hours. It’s a rhythm we’ve grown into, and one we’re proud of. Despite the challenges we’ve had, the joy of seeing a child wearing something we made by hand in little old Morrinsville makes every late night and early morning worth it.

Hopes and Dreams: What’s next?
Our dream is simple: to grow – big enough that our 8-5 day jobs could become 8-5 Willa jobs. We’re constantly exploring new designs and might even venture into products beyond clothing (watch this space!). Willa is more than a business – it’s a family, and we’re excited to see where this journey takes us, with the support from our amazing customers, family and friends.
