Natural Alternatives that are Safe for Families & Kind to the Earth

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

This would have to be my mindset, my expectations and my work habits. I am an experienced primary school teacher so I am used to getting up, going to work and having a full 8-10 hours to get my work done. Before Bodie was born, I had two days a week to work like that in Earth Mama and now I’m learning to fit things in where I can, put things down at the drop of a hat and pick them up again in the next available moment. I am extremely grateful though, because not only is this helping me grow as a person, it’s creating the life I always dreamed of!

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

For me, the biggest “pro” is being able to work on my terms. I am always available for my children when they need me and I don’t have to feel guilty about letting employers down when phoning in if someone is unwell. I also love to learn so it’s been really enjoyable discovering all the different aspects of running a business.

Cons would have to be that I am always thinking about it (which isn’t so bad because I love what I’m creating), but knowing I am unable to action anything until the next day / week / nap time can make that overwhelming when there are more ideas than time to bring them to life – I have an overflowing notebook!

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Oh I have so many! My notebook of ideas is overflowing but my long-term goal is to grow Earth Mama into more than ‘just’ an online store. I want to create a community of like-minded people where we share tips and tricks that make earth-friendly living more accessible for busy families – I know that this lifestyle can sometimes be more time consuming and I’m certainly not perfect! I’m all about progress over perfection, and supporting families to find a happy medium that works for their circumstances. I’d also love to incorporate my teaching background to include resources for our children to play in and learn about Mother Earth.
