NZ-made baby products: safe, simple and kind to our planet

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Balance is super important to me and I wouldn’t be able to do it all without an amazing team working on the brand. Bella, Vanessa, Julie and Morgan are all extremely intelligent, driven and switched on women and I couldn’t do it without them. I think that is key: passion and team work.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I think alongside many other businesses, we have had to navigate around COVID-19 and the impacts that will have on our future. As one of our core products is our sanitising range, we have had to diversify and try to stand out amongst the flood of cheap, alcohol-based products. The biggest challenge is educating customers on why our sanitisers are the best for protecting our little ones and families when there are so many now available.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

I have a background in brand and consumer marketing so the pros for me are definitely being able to decided EXACTLY how your brand is going to live, breathe and play within the market. I love the brand conception process and would love to do it over and over. The cons would be how much time and resource it takes to get it off the ground. There is risk involved and when you are so passionate about something, it can become personal and stressful.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Next, we would love to expand the breastfeeding range to include accessories, as well as build on the needs of modern kiwi mums.
