The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Right now it would most definitely be the worldwide supply chain issues. Because of this, we have learnt to depend more and more on our local businesses and supporting them instead of depending on supplies offshore.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
I’m sure any small business owner will tell you the same thing. Being your own boss and having that freedom is the epitome of running your own business. Then of course, you have the many hats you have to wear to keep your business running because in the start up stage, you cant afford to pay anyone. One day you’re cutting and wrapping soap, the next you’re trying to figure out where you left a receipt to reconcile your accounts or trying to create content for your social media platforms. The list is never-ending.
For me it’s late nights and early mornings but the end outcome is what I’m looking forward to the most.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
A year ago, who would have guessed that our products would now be selling overseas, in some well-known indigenous stores and that we’d be featuring in magazines?? I mean, to me, all that was a dream. Now I pinch myself every day knowing just how far we’ve come and I’m humbled for every opportunity that comes our way.
This year has been our first year in business. It’s had its ups and downs for sure and it’s nice to know we made it.
We have a few things in the pipeline for next year and it’s all based around making people more aware of sustainable living to preserve our environment for generations to come. Long-term dream?? I’m looking forward to building that tiny home in the middle of the bush with a workshop for Casez. 😊
