Supporting Families to Access Holistic, Culturally Appropriate Mental Health Care for Lasting Wellbeing

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?

With over 12 years of corporate experience, I’m no stranger to managing complex projects, stakeholder relationships, and tight deadlines. Yet, becoming a business owner has tested my skills in entirely new ways, challenging me to grow both as a leader and as an individual. As a migrant and woman of colour, I recognise the extra challenges I face, but I won’t let them hold me back. Each “no” I encounter is simply a “not yet” in my mind, and I remain determined to reach out and build collaborations to advance our mission.

For Better or Worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The greatest advantage of running my own business is the freedom to choose where to focus my energy and how to make a meaningful contribution, no matter the scale. Flexibility and agility are invaluable, allowing me to pivot quickly and respond to the needs of my audience. On the flip side, working solo can feel isolating. I miss the immediate feedback and diverse perspectives that come from working within a team. As someone who thrives on collaboration, adapting to this new way of working has been one of my biggest challenges.

Hopes and Dreams: What’s next?

I dream of a world where parents are thriving-mentally, physically and spiritually-allowing them to fully embrace the joys of parenting while finding meaning and purpose in their lives. At The Shift, we aim to break down location barriers and expand globally, making a significant impact by normalising self-care and empowering parents with the education and tools they need to nourish their mental health in a holistic way. The journey has just begun, and I’m excited for the possibilities ahead.
